2024 Chevrolet Suburban
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2024 Chevrolet Suburban Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He landed back at the airport and caught the shuttle to the economy lot. Three days out of town, rolling a bag across asphalt in the afternoon heat. Hit the fob button from twenty feet out. Nothing. Tried again standing right next to the door. Nothing. Doors locked, battery dead, and he was tired.

He called his dealership first. Earliest they could see him was two days later. Then he called a tow company, who wanted to pull the Suburban from the economy lot for more than he thought the whole fix was worth. He found me after that.

I was in Old Poway when he called. I told him I could be at the lot inside 40 minutes and he said that was fine because he had nowhere else to be.

When I got there, the Suburban was sitting exactly where the shuttle driver said it would be. I used the mechanical blade in his fob to get the door open -- that hidden cylinder behind the handle cap is there for exactly this moment -- then popped the fob and swapped in a fresh CR2450 right on the hood.

The fob came back immediately. I walked every button, confirmed the lock and unlock were working, and tested the blade release. No reprogramming needed. The battery had just quit.

He said he'd been clicking it in the airport thinking his fob had finally died for good. It hadn't. He drove home that same afternoon. The tow truck never moved, the dealer appointment stayed uncanceled, and the fix was about as simple as it gets.
