He landed back at the airport and caught the shuttle to the economy lot. Three days out of town, rolling a bag across asphalt in the afternoon heat. Hit the fob button from twenty feet out. Nothing. Tried again standing right next to the door. Nothing. Doors locked, battery dead, and he was tired.

The fob came back immediately. I walked every button, confirmed the lock and unlock were working, and tested the blade release. No reprogramming needed. The battery had just quit.
He said he'd been clicking it in the airport thinking his fob had finally died for good. It hadn't. He drove home that same afternoon. The tow truck never moved, the dealer appointment stayed uncanceled, and the fix was about as simple as it gets.
