Out near the Spring Valley Border in Lemon Grove, I got a call from a guy parked at his apartment complex. His spare key had stopped working, and the one he used daily was getting flaky, sometimes starting the Expedition, sometimes just sitting there while the dash threw a key-not-detected warning at him.

Then I connected my programming tool to the OBD port, ran the all-keys-lost sequence, enrolled two keys so the procedure completed cleanly, and tested both the transponder and the remote functions on each one.

The whole thing took a little under forty minutes. He watched most of it from maybe three feet away, which I don't mind. I walked him through why the spare had probably drifted out of the system and why having two enrolled keys matters on this platform.

He saved a good chunk versus the dealer route, never left the parking lot, and had two working keys when I left instead of one.
