2008 Ford Mustang Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in Blossom Valley, a woman had been driving her 2008 Mustang on a single key for three years. She bought it used, the previous owner handed over one key, and she just never got around to making a spare.
Then the blade cracked at the base and snapped when she was trying to unlock the door. The remote head was in her hand. The blade was stuck in the cylinder. She had nothing.
She called me because a tow to the dealer felt like overkill for a car sitting thirty feet from her front door.
The chip inside the cracked remote head was still intact, which matters. I extracted the broken blade fragment from the door lock cylinder, then decoded the lock to get the correct key cut. From there I cloned the transponder data from the original chip and transferred it into a new key. No all-keys-lost procedure needed, no waiting on the immobilizer to cycle through a full re-enrollment. Two fresh keys cut and verified, both starting the car cleanly, in about forty minutes.
She kept both keys this time. Lesson learned.
The dealer was going to require a tow, an appointment, and a day without the car. She got it handled in her parking lot before lunch. The price difference was significant, and I didn't need to mention it twice.
