I was out in South Poway on a Tuesday when the call came in. The owner of a 2025 Mustang had been dealing with an intermittent no-start for a few days.

He would press the start button and the car would just sit there showing a key-not-detected warning. Then he would try again and it would fire right up. He assumed it was a wiring problem or something deeper in the car, because the fob looked fine and the battery seemed recent.

He was relieved it was not that. So was I, honestly, but that is the thing about intermittent key complaints on these cars: half the time you are solving a battery and contact problem, not a programming or module problem. You just have to look at what is actually in the fob first.
