A guy from Winter Gardens called me on a Saturday morning. He had driven his 2020 Mustang over to a gas station near Lakeside, got out to grab a drink, and came back to a car that would not acknowledge his fob at all. He was relieved, then a little embarrassed that it was the battery. I told him not to be. The CR2450 versus CR2032 mix-up is genuinely common because the fob slot will accept either one and most people just grab whatever is on the peg at the checkout counter.
He asked what a full replacement fob would have run if the fob itself had been the problem. I gave him a number. He said the dealer quoted him almost triple that when he called in a panic before reaching me.
