1995 Honda Accord
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1995 Honda Accord Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call from a guy out near South Poway who had been fishing all morning and came back to a problem he could not solve by himself.

He had set his keys down somewhere between the water and the bait shop, retraced every step, and came up empty. One key on the ring, no spare at home, and a 1995 Honda Accord sitting in a lot with no way in and no way to start it. His first thought was to wait for the dealer on Monday. His second thought was to call me.

I told him I could be out there that afternoon.

When I pulled up he was just leaning against the car. I got the door open by working the lock mechanically, then decoded the blade positions right there in the lot. Cut a fresh key blade to match. On a mid-nineties Accord the process is direct: you work from what the lock tells you, not from a code on file somewhere.

The remote side took a few more minutes. The 1995 Accord remote system has a specific add-a-remote sequence you run with the existing fob present, but in an all-keys-lost situation I handled the registration with my equipment instead, cleared out the old fob so it would be useless to whoever found it, and got the new fob recognized by the vehicle.

He wanted a spare cut too, so I did that while we were standing there. Total time in the lot was under an hour. He drove home the same afternoon with two working keys, which was roughly one working key more than he had ever owned at one time.

The dealer route would have meant a tow, a Monday appointment, and a bill that made no sense for a 30-year-old Accord. This way he was gone before the bait shop even closed.
