2006 Honda Accord Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Parking lot off Seacoast Drive, Downtown IB, middle of a weekday afternoon. Guy flags me down before I even finish parking.
He had one key for his 2006 Accord and it had been acting up for weeks. The remote buttons were getting flaky, range was down to about a foot, and then one morning it just stopped locking the doors entirely. He figured the car was going to leave him stranded eventually and wanted a spare before that happened. Smart call.
He had already priced it at the Honda dealer. The quote he got included the key itself, a programming fee, and a shop supply charge that seemed to appear out of nowhere. The number was not pretty. He pulled up my number instead.
I popped the key open on the spot and the CR1616 was reading low. Swapped it, reseated the contacts, and the remote came back clean. Lock, unlock, trunk, panic, all four buttons, full range. The existing key didn't even need reprogramming.
But he still wanted that spare. So I cut a new key blade to his vehicle, programmed the transponder chip to the immobilizer through the OBD port, and verified every button on the new remote head key before I handed it over. Both keys tested, both keys working.
The whole thing took about thirty minutes. He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, stayed in the parking lot the entire time, and left with two working keys instead of one dying one.
