1997 Honda Accord Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Near RB Town Center in Rancho Bernardo, a home health aide had been carrying her 1997 Accord key in the same pocket as her work badge lanyard for years. The key shell had finally given up.
The loop at the top had snapped clean off, the rubber button pad on the fob was wearing through, and she was nervous the whole thing was going to come apart in her hand one morning before a shift.
She had already called her dealer. They told her the only path forward was a full new key, cut and programmed, and quoted her a number that made her stop and think. What they didn't mention was that the circuit board and transponder chip inside were fine. The shell was cosmetic. The guts were doing their job.
I met her at her place off RB Town Center. I brought replacement shells that match the factory button layout and material. The job was transferring her working electronics into the new housing, verifying all four buttons, confirming remote range, and cutting a fresh blade to match. The transponder chip moved with the board, so no reprogramming was needed. The car started on the first turn.
She asked me at the end how the dealer could quote what they quoted for something that didn't actually need replacing. I told her dealers price for the worst case, every time. She saved a good chunk that morning and still made her first appointment.
