2014 Infiniti QX50 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Eucalyptus Hills, a woman called me about a 2014 Infiniti QX50 she'd bought used through a certified pre-owned program in Lakeside. She'd gotten the car with one fob, told herself she'd get a spare eventually, and then two years passed the way two years do.
The fob seam had cracked. She wasn't sure when it started. Could have been a drop, could have been a bag it got crushed in. By the time she called me, moisture had worked its way in and the fob wasn't responding. One key, cracked housing, and a car she needed for work the next morning.
When I got there and opened the housing, the transponder chip was still intact inside. The electronics on the board looked okay too. That changed the job. Instead of a full all-keys-lost procedure, I was able to work from the existing chip data. I cut two new key blades to her vehicle and built two new fobs, transferring the verified data into fresh shells. Both got tested on every function before I packed up.
She went from a cracked single fob to two fully working keys in about 40 minutes, parked in her own driveway. She asked what a dealer would have charged. I told her more, and left it at that.
Even a broken fob isn't worthless. If the housing cracked but the internals survived, bring the pieces. It can change the whole job.
