2022 Infiniti QX50
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2022 Infiniti QX50 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy in the marina overflow lot just outside Downtown IB. He'd come off the water early, keys somewhere between the dock and the gravel lot, and his 2022 QX50 was sitting there going nowhere.

No spare. He'd already checked the boat, checked his gear bag, called the marina office. Nothing. He was mentally pricing out a tow to the dealer and burning a weekday waiting for a VIN-ordered key.

I told him I could be there that afternoon. He sounded like he didn't quite believe it.

When I pulled up, the car was locked tight and he was sitting on a dock box nearby looking tired. First thing was getting the door open without any damage. I used a pick tool to work the lock cylinder, decoding the wafer positions in the process, then cut a fresh emergency blade on site to match. That gave him mechanical access immediately.

From there I connected through the OBD port and ran the all-keys-lost sequence for the QX50's immobilizer system. That process involves extracting the vehicle's security PIN before any new fob can be enrolled, and there's a timed countdown built into the procedure that you just have to sit through. When it cleared, I registered the new smart key and it started the car on the first try. I cut him a second blade and suggested he store it somewhere off the boat.

The whole job happened in the lot, no tow, no weekday at a dealership. He mentioned what the dealer had quoted him over the phone. What he paid me was a fraction of that. He was back on his boat inside two hours.
