2010 Jeep Cherokee
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2010 Jeep Cherokee Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Richland, a woman who ran an HOA called me with what she described as a fleet problem on a small scale. She managed two maintenance vehicles under the HOA operating budget and used her own 2010 Jeep Cherokee for property errands in between.

She needed a spare for herself and backup keys for both maintenance trucks. The dealer gave her a per-key quote, times three vehicles. That math did not fit the quarterly budget, and she could not take three vehicles off-site one at a time to sit at a dealer service bay.

She asked if I could come to her.

I pulled up to the condo office late in the afternoon. Before programming anything, I backed up the relevant module data on the first vehicle. It is a habit I keep when I am registering multiple fobs in a single session. If anything acts up on the third or fourth key, I have a fallback instead of a problem.

The fobs are six-button units. I worked through all three vehicles, programmed the spares, and tested every button on every key before I packed up. Lock, unlock, remote start button if equipped, panic. All of it.

She handled two tenant phone calls during the job. The vehicles never left the property. By the time I drove away, she had all the spares labeled and in hand. The HOA board signed off on the expense that same week, which she mentioned with the tone of someone who does not get that outcome often.
