He called around nine at night from a diner parking lot in Bonita, over in Chula Vista. Night security shift, dinner break, and the Cherokee just sat there. Push the start button, nothing. No crank, no response, no key warning. He had about an hour before he had to be back at his post.

I stabilized the battery, then went through the OBD port with my programmer to restore the pairing between his existing remote and the vehicle. The factory FCC ID on the fob matched what it should be for this Cherokee. Once the module relearned it, the Jeep fired right up.
He made his shift. The diagnosis mattered more than the programming here. Anyone can plug in a tool. Knowing to check the battery voltage first, before assuming the fob is the problem, is what saved him a tow bill and a lost worknight. That is the job.
