Got a call from a guy in a loft garage near the Woolworths Building downtown in Oxnard. He had one working key left for his 2000 BMW Z3 and wanted a spare before he was down to zero. The dealer had quoted him a number that made him start Googling other options. That's how he found me.
I parked next to the Z3 in the garage and pulled out my HU92 Lishi to decode the door lock, reading each wafer position for the blade cut. His key was the 3-button remote head, FCC ID LX8FZV, with the PCF7935 transponder chip inside. The blank I carry matches part number 6955750.
Cut the blade on the spot. Then I connected to the OBD-II port and synced with the EWS2 module to write the new transponder into one of the open key memory slots. The EWS2 on these stores up to 10 keys, so adding a spare doesn't bump the original. Whole job ran about 40 minutes.
While I was packing up, he turned the new key in the ignition himself just to watch the EWS authorize and the engine catch. Then he tried the remote, locking and unlocking from across the garage. He just nodded. That was the whole reaction.
