A Heritage Valley guy drove into Fillmore running an errand and came out to a key that felt wrong in his hand. The blade on his 1999 Eldorado key had worn down enough that it was hunting inside the ignition cylinder every time he turned it. He was nursing it, half-turn at a time, terrified of breaking it off in there.
He'd already called a shop that wanted to yank the whole ignition cylinder and replace it. That quote was enough to make him pull out his phone and start looking for another option.
I decoded the door cylinder, which still had clean wafer contact, and got exact cut depths from that read without touching the ignition at all. Cut a fresh blade to match. The worn original ignition wafers still had enough life in them to work correctly once the key going in was cut right. No drilling, no cylinder swap, nothing replaced that didn't need replacing.
He watched the whole thing in a parking lot off Central Avenue. When it turned over on the first try, smooth, he just said "that's it?" That's it. The dealer plan would have been a much larger bill for parts and labor that he didn't need.
