I used my ACDP to pull the immobilizer data as a safety backup, then ran the AKL sequence through OBD. His smart fob, FCC ID , was a -button proximity key.
His car started at an RV park with no dealer anywhere close. Total was around 85. The dealer route would have been 186 plus a long tow. Smart key AKL isn't dealer-only. It's tool-dependent. Right tools, current software, and it's a field job. He was pretty amazed it could all happen right there.
