2009 Chevrolet Suburban Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call one evening from a woman staying at a hotel off Hollister Avenue in the Old Town Goleta area. She was on a business trip, one key to her name, and the 2009 Suburban would not turn over. Key went in, turned, dash lit up, then nothing. The security light just sat there blinking. Classic PK3+ rejection.

She had already called the dealer. They told her to get it towed in, earliest opening was the next afternoon. She had meetings in the morning.

I drove out that same evening. Hooked my programmer to the OBD-II port and pulled the BCM data. The transponder in her key was reading intermittent, which happens when the chip starts to weaken or the resistor value drifts just enough for the BCM to say no. The key would occasionally authenticate one try out of five, which is why she thought the car was the problem, not the key.

Cut a new B111-PT blade in the van, matched to her door lock. Programmed a fresh ID 13 transponder to the BCM. The security relearn timer ran its 10-minute cycle, the theft deterrent light went solid, then off. Fired right up.

She just stood there watching the engine idle for a second, like she was waiting for it to stall again. It did not. Whole thing, maybe 35 minutes. She kept her morning meetings.
