If one antenna has a wiring issue or moisture intrusion, you can get a warning even with a perfectly functioning fob. If the warning is happening consistently at one specific door or only when you're in a certain seat, that's a clue it's on the vehicle side, not the key side.

Third, if the fob took a hit -- dropped hard, run through a wash in a pocket, anything like that -- the internal board can have a fault that doesn't show up until the battery is fresh and you're expecting it to work. A replacement fob with a clean programming is the fix there.

I have a spare fob for my 2020 Suburban that was never programmed. Can I add it myself?
