An older couple near UCSB in Goleta called about their 2006 Suburban. Their situation was more than just needing a key. Neither of them liked driving the freeway anymore, and the closest dealer was a solid highway run each way. Their one remaining key remote was getting flaky, buttons barely responding, and they wanted a spare before it quit for good.
I drove out that morning and set up in their driveway. The Suburban uses a B106 keyway with a separate PK3 transponder chip and the LHJ011 three-button remote. Two pieces, not one integrated fob. I decoded the lock with my B106 Lishi, verified the cuts, and made a fresh blade. Programmed the transponder through the OBD port. Then paired the new LHJ011 remote and tested lock, unlock, and hatch on both fobs.
While I was there, I popped the back off their old remote and showed them the CR2032 inside. Told them what fading range looks like versus an actual transponder problem, so they would know the difference next time.
They handed me coffee and stood in the driveway watching the whole thing. Never had to call anyone for a ride, never had to merge onto the 101. Both keys done and tested before lunch.
The dealer would have taken longer and cost a good chunk more, and that is before solving the problem of actually getting there.
