2019 Chevrolet Suburban
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

Q: How do I know you're not a scam locksmith?

Ask before they pull up: license number, company name, and a firm price for your specific vehicle. Any real locksmith gives you all three without hesitation. Scam operations quote a low number on the phone, then hit you with surprise "programming fees" or "security access" charges once the job is started and you're stuck. It happens with GM trucks constantly because owners assume the programming is included in the quote.

Q: Will the replacement fob work exactly like the original?

Yes. Once a new fob is registered to your 2019 Suburban through the OBD port, it behaves identically to the one that came with the truck from the factory. Lock, unlock, and all six buttons function the same way. I test everything before I close my tools and leave. The number of owners who've paid someone else and walked away with a fob where half the buttons worked intermittently is higher than it should be.

Q: I have one working key and bought a fob online. Can you just program it, or do I need to buy the fob from you?

I can program a fob you sourced yourself as long as it matches the correct configuration for your 2019 Suburban. Bring it, I'll verify it before I start, and if it's the right one we go from there. Heads-up though: a lot of fobs sold online are either the wrong configuration or are already paired to another vehicle and locked. I can tell within about two minutes of connecting whether the fob you have is usable.

Q: My 2019 Suburban fob range suddenly got short, like I have to be right next to the truck for it to respond. Is the fob dying?

Short range is almost always the CR2032 getting weak before it fully dies. A low battery on this fob doesn't just reduce range, it can also cause the passive door handle unlock to get sluggish or stop responding, even if the fob still starts the truck when you're inside.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was coming off a job on the west side of Oxnard when a call came in from Rose Park. Owner had a 2019 Suburban, needed a spare key made. Her words were something like, "I just want a backup. I've been meaning to do this forever."

She had everything ready before I pulled up: VIN, registration, photo ID, and her original fob sitting on the hood of the truck. That kind of prep makes the whole job move differently.

With the VIN confirmed and a working fob in hand, I had already pulled up the correct key blank on the drive over. I verified the factory fob matched the correct configuration for her vehicle, cross-referenced the key blank, and got to cutting while the programming tool was connecting to the OBD port. The new fob got registered to her truck's immobilizer alongside the original.

Then I do the full walk: lock, unlock, remote start if equipped, every button, and I test the emergency insert blade in the door lock manually. Because that blade is the thing that saves you when the battery gives out at midnight, and you want to know it works before you need it.

She had a tested, fully working spare in hand and was back inside in under 30 minutes. She asked what the dealer would've charged. I told her to call and find out. The look on her face after she got off the phone said enough.

Chevrolet Suburban Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Are you licensed and insured to work on Chevrolet vehicles?▼

Yes. EZ Car Keyz is licensed through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, the state agency that regulates automotive locksmiths. We carry full liability insurance and hold professional credentials that include the background checks required to access security data for GM vehicles. That matters on a 2019 Suburban specifically because the fob programming goes through the OBD port and talks directly to the vehicle's immobilizer. This is not a job for a guy with a generic code reader.
