It was early morning in Oxnard Shores, the kind of call where I could hear the water from the channel in the background before the guy even got two words out. He had a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban sitting in his driveway and he needed to be somewhere. His fob had stopped responding to the door handles overnight. He figured it was just the battery. I swapped in a fresh cell from my stock, cleaned the contacts, reseated everything properly, and the fob came back immediately.
Then I walked every function: touch unlock on both front doors, all six buttons, verified the start system was seeing the fob reliably. Everything checked out. He didn't need a new smart key, didn't need a trip to the dealer, didn't need to wait three days for an appointment.
He was back inside having coffee before 9am. That's the Oxnard Shores version of a good morning.
