Got a call from a guy at The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard. He was sitting in the parking area near the theater, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban LTZ, and his push-button start was giving him nothing. Dashboard message: "No Remote Detected." He had already swapped in a fresh CR2032 from the drugstore across the way. No change.
I pulled up and he handed me the HYQ1AA fob. Looked fine on the outside. I cracked it open on his hood, and the new battery was in there, but he had it upside down. Positive side facing the wrong way. The contact plate inside the 13508280 shell is marked, but it is tiny and easy to miss if you are rushing in a parking lot.
Flipped the CR2032, snapped the case shut, and the Suburban picked up the fob immediately. Doors locked and unlocked from ten feet, remote start kicked over clean, and the push-button fired the engine with no hesitation.
Then I walked every button on the six-button layout: lock, unlock, hatch release, remote start, and the panic. All good. He just stood there for a second, looking at the fob like it had personally betrayed him.
The whole thing took maybe eight minutes. He did not need a new smart key, did not need a tow to the dealer, did not need to wait three days for a part. Just needed the battery put in right.
