Saturday morning near Hillcrest Center for the Arts in Thousand Oaks. A guy selling vintage records at a swap meet walked back to his 2014 Dodge Dart after setting up his booth and got nothing. No unlock, no dome light flash, push-to-start completely dead. Just "Key Fob Not Detected" sitting on the dash display. I got there in about 40 minutes. Popped open the M3N-40821302 fob and the CR2032 was toast, voltage well below what the RFH module needs to see a signal. But this wasn't just a battery swap situation. The fob had been dying slowly, and the proximity system had lost its registration, something that happens on the Fiat-based Dart platform more than people expect.
I connected through OBD, went through the Fiat security path to pull the PIN from the RFH module, and programmed a fresh 5-button smart key with remote start. Tested lock, unlock, push-to-start, remote start, and walked the range from across the lot.
He sold records the rest of the day and drove home that night. The whole thing took less time than he spent setting up his table.
