1999 GMC Envoy Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A warehouse supervisor near The Collection at RiverPark in Oxnard flagged me down about his 1999 GMC Envoy. He wanted a spare remote, not a drawer queen, but something he could actually clip to his keys and beat on every day. His question was simple: "Is an aftermarket one going to be as good as dealer?"
Fair ask. Here is the honest answer.
The KOBUT1BT is a four-button remote with no transponder chip inside. It handles door locks, panic, and rear glass. The security side lives in the ignition key, completely separate. So the remote is just a radio transmitter running at 315 MHz, matched to the receiver module in the truck.
The aftermarket shell I carry uses the same circuit board layout, same rubber button pad, same CR2032 battery seat, same snap-fit halves. The difference is no GMC logo stamped on the back and a lot less money in the job. I programmed it on site using the standard GM two-button onboard procedure: turn the ignition, hold lock and unlock on a working remote, then press lock-unlock on the new one. Took about two minutes.
He clicked all four buttons standing next to the truck, then walked to the far end of the parking row and tried again. Same response at both distances. He nodded once and pocketed it.
No logo, same function, fraction of what the dealer wanted.

Reviews from customers we rescued
“My ignition would not turn in La Jolla and I thought I needed a tow. EZ Car Keyz repaired the ignition on the spot and also made a spare key for safety. The technician worked carefully and confidently.”
“Niv showed up, did his thing, and just like that I had two new keys for a fraction of what the dealership quoted. I have zero reservations recommending him to anyone who needs car keys replaced.”
“We had one broken key for our Honda Civic and one working key for our Lexus. Tim came out and cut three remote car keys at a great price. All keys worked perfectly. Professional, courteous, and highly recommended.”
