Cut the blade to code, seated the new key in the ignition, and the immobilizer accepted it on the first turn.
She watched the whole thing from a folding chair next to a mid-century credenza she was trying to sell.
The Prelude started clean. No security light blinking, no crank-no-start. I had her test the old key too, just to confirm both registered. Total time from handshake to handing her the new key was about 20 minutes.
She kept the old cracked key as a backup in her wallet. Smart move. The dealer route would have cost her a full week and a good chunk more.
