Guy was at a Korean BBQ spot off Gonzales Road in Oxnard when someone grabbed his jacket right off the booth. Keys, wallet, phone, gone. He borrowed a phone, called the police, then his wife called me.
His 2012 Hyundai Veloster was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The Hyundai dealer told his wife three to five business days, the car needed a tow in, and they recommended a full smart system reprogram since the stolen SY5HMFNA04 fob could still unlock the doors and start the engine. Combined quote was way more than he wanted to hear after already losing his wallet.
I got there within the hour. All-keys-lost on the first-gen Veloster means I wipe the immobilizer memory through the OBD port so the stolen fob is electronically dead. Used my IM608 to access the Hyundai PIN, clear old key data from the smart key unit (board 95480-2V100), and register two new proximity fobs from scratch. Decoded the lock cylinder, cut both emergency blades, tested push-button start, door handle touch unlock, and all four buttons on each fob.
He drove home that night. The police hadn't even called back with a case number yet.
The stolen fob is just a plastic shell now. Once the key memory is wiped, that old chip can't talk to his car again.
