Over on Saviers Road in Oxnard, a woman had her only smart key to a 2014 Veloster crack along the seam. The kind of crack that starts small and one day splits wide open. She tried the emergency blade to get the door open manually and the blade snapped off inside the lock cylinder. Fob housing in one hand, blade stuck in the door. Zero working keys.

I checked the PCF7952 chip inside the broken housing. Still intact on the board, still reading clean. That meant I could skip a full all-keys-lost reset through the OBD port, which saves real time on these Hitag 2 systems. I extracted the blade fragment from the lock, decoded the bitting, and cut two fresh HYN14R inserts.
Then I transplanted her original chip board into a new SY5HMFNA04 shell, paired everything, and tested all four buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Handle-touch unlock on the driver door. Push-button start. Walked the perimeter.
She went from zero keys to two working smart keys in about 40 minutes. I showed her the chip from the cracked fob so she could see why the transplant worked. If your Hyundai fob is cracked but the board inside is still good, bring the pieces. It makes the job faster and costs way less than starting from scratch.
