2016 Jeep Renegade Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in the Loma Vista neighborhood in Ventura, a young nurse flagged me down on a job that started with a text and a photo. One hand holding the cracked Fobik shell, the other pointing at a broken blade jammed in the ignition of her 2016 Jeep Renegade. She bought it used from a lot with one key. Never got around to a spare.
The housing had split right along the seam, and when she tried to force it, the blade snapped off inside the cylinder. Zero working keys.
I popped the broken Fobik open on her hood. The Hitag AES transponder chip was still intact inside the cracked shell. That meant I could read the chip data with my VVDI2 through the RF hub connector under the dash instead of running a full all-keys-lost reset, which on the Renegade involves a timed security lockout that adds real minutes.
Extracted the broken blade from the ignition, decoded her lock, and cut two fresh blades. Rebuilt both into new M3N-40821302 shells with the original chip cloned over. Tested every button, lock, unlock, hatch, panic, and confirmed the push-to-start picked up both fobs clean.
Forty minutes, hood to handoff. She held the two new keys like she'd just been handed a gift. Didn't say much, just nodded and headed to her shift.
If your Fobik is cracked or broken, bring every piece. The chip data inside is almost always still good, and it makes the whole job faster.
