2020 Lincoln Nautilus
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2020 Lincoln Nautilus Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

There's a property manager who runs a commercial complex off Woodcreek in Camarillo. He called me on a Tuesday afternoon because his 2020 Nautilus was sitting in his parking garage and he only ever had one key. That key was in his other jacket, at home, and he had a showing in forty minutes.

He'd already called the Lincoln dealer before he called me. They told him they could get him in, but the soonest available programming slot was two days out. He'd need to tow the car in because without any working key present, the vehicle couldn't be driven to the shop. Tow, wait, come back later. That was the plan they offered him.

I told him I could be there in about twenty minutes.

I pulled into the garage, plugged into the OBD port under the dash, and ran through the security handshake with the body control module. The Nautilus needs that dialog to complete before it accepts a new fob into memory. It's not a long process, but it has to finish cleanly or the registration won't hold. Once it cleared, I registered the new fob, confirmed all five buttons were reading correctly, verified proximity range around both front door handles, and tested push-button start.

The whole thing took about thirty minutes. He made his showing.

He mentioned the dealer quote later, almost as an aside. What he really cared about was that he didn't lose a day of work waiting for a tow and a service slot. That's usually the part that stings more than the price difference anyway.
