2021 Lincoln Nautilus
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2021 Lincoln Nautilus Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A woman in Camarillo Heights called me on a Tuesday afternoon. She had one working key for her 2021 Lincoln Nautilus and wanted a spare before she headed out of town for the holidays.

Reasonable thinking. She'd already called the Lincoln dealer and was told to come in for an appointment, then wait on a parts order for the fob, then come back a second time to have it programmed. That was going to stretch into the following week.

Her one working key was fine. The car started. She just wanted a backup in hand before she left, and the dealer timeline wasn't going to cooperate.

I drove out to her place, pulled up in front, and she walked out to meet me at the car. The Nautilus was sitting in her driveway and we did the whole job there. I cut the replacement blade to match her vehicle and ran the programming sequence through the OBD port with my diagnostic tool. The immobilizer enrollment on this system has a timed security access window built in, so you can't rush it, but it moves on its own schedule. When it cleared, I walked every button on the five-button fob, checked both door handle touch sensors, confirmed the start button saw the new key, and locked up with it from across the driveway.

She was holding a working spare in about 40 minutes. She mentioned the dealer quote on the way out. I told her what we charged. She went quiet for a second and said she wished she'd called me first.

I hear that a lot.
