In Las Posas Plaza, a Nautilus owner called from the Sprouts parking lot. Her fob worked fine yesterday, dead today.
She'd already tried the CR2450 swap. Still nothing. The Phone as a Key feature on her Lincoln Way app kept timing out with "vehicle not found." Her husband was stuck at LAX waiting for pickup, and she had this dead Lincoln blocking a busy parking spot.
I pulled up next to her Reserve trim Nautilus and ran a quick diagnostic. No B109D codes, good 12V battery voltage. Popped open her M3N-A2C931426 fob right on my tailgate. The CR2450 was new but installed backwards. Positive facing down instead of up.
Flipped the battery, snapped the case, tested all five buttons including remote start. Everything worked. Then I showed her how to reset the Lincoln Way app connection, which had locked up trying to communicate with a dead fob.
Twenty minutes total. She made it to LAX on time. Lincoln dealer had told her two days minimum because they'd need to order the specific fob variant. Like the battery orientation was some complex diagnosis requiring a service bay.
