She pulled the fob out of the dryer, shook it, and got nothing. The WAZSKE11D01 was dead. No lights, no response, just a wet circuit board visible through the seams. The emergency blade still worked, but the alarm went off the second she opened the door, and the push-button start just flashed orange.
I met her in that back corner of the lot. Popped the soaked fob open on my tailgate, and yeah, corrosion was already starting on the board contacts. The transponder chip was sealed separately and looked intact, but the remote board was toast.
Cut a new blade on the Condor XC-Mini, then programmed a fresh WAZSKE11D01 through the OBD port. The CX-50's keyless module accepted it after the security countdown. Tested all four buttons, checked the walk-away lock kicked in at 5 feet, made sure the handle sensors responded.
She mentioned the dealer quote included a tow since the car wouldn't start. Here in the parking lot, took me 35 minutes total. Way less than they wanted, and her car never left that spot.
