2009 Nissan Cube Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A family near the Ventura Pier had a 2009 Cube with push-to-start and zero working keys. They'd been camping up past Ojai, lost the only fob somewhere on a trail, and coasted on a AAA flatbed back to Ventura. By the time they called me, they'd already heard from two shops that Intelligent Key all-keys-lost was dealer-only. It's not.
I met them in a parking lot off Harbor Boulevard. The Cube was just sitting there, locked and dead to the world. No physical key slot visible on the dash, no ignition cylinder to turn. If the BCM doesn't see a registered fob, nothing wakes up.
I connected through OBD, pulled the NATS5 immobilizer data from the BCM with my ACDP as a safety backup, then cleared the old key registration and ran the AKL procedure. Programmed a new CWTWB1U825 proximity fob, cut the hidden emergency insert blade so they'd have a mechanical backup, and tested every function: push-button start, keyless entry on both front doors, trunk release.
The whole job took about 40 minutes. Their daughter sat on the curb the whole time drawing the Cube because she thought the shape was funny. Fair point.
The dealer quoted them multiple days of wait time plus a tow back to the service bay. They got it done in a parking lot near the pier for a fraction of that.
