2015 Chevrolet Trax Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Got a call from a couple in Otay Mesa West, over near the residential side where the streets dead-end before the border zone.
They had one key for their 2015 Trax and it was getting unreliable - the remote would work some mornings and not others, and they wanted a spare before the whole thing gave out. Getting to a dealer wasn't a small thing for them. Freeway driving had gotten harder and the nearest Chevy store was a solid stretch on the 905. They weren't complaining about it, just explaining the situation quietly. That part stuck with me.
I pulled up to the house that morning. One key, original, well used. I decoded the lock cylinder to verify the blade cut, ran a fresh blade, and programmed both the transponder chip and the remote functions through the OBD port so both keys came out fully matched to the car. Showed them how to check the fob battery on their own so they'd catch it early next time instead of getting stranded.
Both keys done, handed over in the driveway. The dealer had quoted them a number that would have covered one key, plus a trip they didn't want to make, plus the wait. They saved a good chunk and didn't leave the house. That's the whole job. Nothing dramatic. Just the right call for what they actually needed.
