2020 Chevrolet Trax Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Fire Mountain, Oceanside. Guy called me around 10:30 at night. His 2020 Trax was sitting in the driveway and neither of his fobs would get the car to respond. Not the door handles, not the push-button start, nothing. He'd already done the obvious thing and swapped the batteries in both fobs. Still dead.
His first instinct was a tow to the dealer in the morning. He figured there was no other option with a push-button car.
I got there and ran diagnostics through the OBD port. The body control module had dropped both fobs from memory. It happens. Not a hardware failure, just the module losing its learned key data, which sounds dramatic but is a known job. I ran the all-keys-lost procedure, let the security relearn cycle complete, and registered both fobs back into the system. Tested every function on both: door lock, unlock, the panic button, remote start. Everything came back clean.
The whole thing took about 45 minutes at his driveway. He kept waiting for the catch. There wasn't one. The dealer would have meant a tow, a morning appointment, a day without the car, and a bill that made him wince when I told him what they typically charge. He saved a significant chunk and didn't lose a day of work.
If your Trax is one of the rare configurations my tools don't yet cover, I'll tell you that upfront. But the 2020 Trax is well within range, and I do this job regularly.
