I was parked near the train depot in Old Poway on a Saturday morning when the call came in. A guy had been handed a spare key when he bought his 2002 Durango used, used it once, and then forgot about it for two years.
When his daily key finally gave out, he grabbed the spare, and got the same result: engine cranks, runs for about a second, then dies. He assumed the spare had the same problem and figured both keys were done.

I cut a new key blade to the vehicle, programmed the transponder chip to the immobilizer on site, and tested it through multiple cold starts. Then I programmed the spare the same way so he walked away with two working keys instead of one.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait and a tow. He paid a fraction of that, right there in the neighborhood he called from.
