While I had the fob apart, I checked the transponder chip inside the broken housing. It was intact. That changed the whole job. Instead of an all-keys-lost procedure, I transferred and cloned the chip data into a new shell, cut two fresh blades, and had both keys programmed and tested on site.
The whole thing took right around forty minutes. They went from completely locked out to two working keys in hand. I showed them the chip from the old housing so they understood what I had done and why keeping the broken fob had mattered.
