A Pilot owner called me from that exact spot. He had snapped the key blade clean off inside the ignition while in a hurry. Half the blade was still seated in the cylinder. He had already called another locksmith who told him the cylinder would need to be drilled out and replaced, which meant a new cylinder, new keys, and a job that would take most of the afternoon.

I pulled into the district with my extraction tools and got to work. The broken fragment came out cleanly without touching the wafer surfaces inside the cylinder. Once I had the blade out, I decoded the lock by reading each wafer position directly. That gave me the exact cut profile for a new blade without needing the original key or any key code on file.
From there I cut a new remote head key blank to match, programmed the transponder through the OBD port, and verified the remote functions worked before I packed up.
The cylinder was never drilled. The lock works exactly as it did before. He saved a good chunk compared to what the other locksmith was planning to charge, and he was back in his car in under an hour.
