2011 Honda Pilot
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2011 Honda Pilot Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A delivery driver called me from a fast food parking lot in San Ysidro, over near the Las Americas area, at about ten at night. His only key to his 2011 Pilot was gone. He wasn't sure if he left it at a stop, dropped it somewhere on the lot, or what. He was already looking up tow trucks when he found my number.

He was panicked enough that he couldn't remember what a VIN was when I asked for it. I told him to look through the windshield at the lower left corner of the glass on the driver's side. He found it. Then I told him to open his insurance app, and his registration info was right there.

That VIN told me everything I needed before I left my van. I knew the key type, the programming approach, and exactly what blank to bring. I put together his replacement remote head key and had the right tools loaded before I even pulled out.

I met him under the parking lot lights. Verified his ID, cut the key to his vehicle, programmed the transponder and the remote in the same session. He tested every button and turned the car over twice before I packed up.

He drove home that night. The dealer had been his backup plan, but they were closed, and getting there would've meant a tow first. He saved a good chunk going the mobile route, and he didn't lose any cargo time waiting for a morning appointment.

The VIN is the first thing I ask for. It's on your windshield, your registration, and your insurance card. Give me that and I already know what I'm walking into.
