2009 Honda Pilot Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A security guard in Shadowridge, Vista, called me close to midnight on a weekday. His 2009 Pilot was sitting in his townhouse garage and the only key he had stopped working. Not slowly dying, just done. He had already looked up tow companies and was mentally writing off the next two days around a dealer appointment.
I told him to stay put.
When I got there he walked me through what happened. He had tried a new battery weeks ago, seated it wrong, and the contact tab had been slightly bent ever since. The fob had been limping along on a bad connection until it finally gave out completely. The key itself had never been the problem.
I re-seated the CR1616, straightened the contact, and tested every button in the driveway. Full function. The transponder verified clean on my reader. No programming needed at all.
He stood there for a second looking at the key like he expected it to change its mind. Then he asked what he owed me. I told him. He laughed a little, said the dealer quote he had pulled up on his phone was embarrassingly higher for what turned out to be a contact tab.
Not every call is a full program job. Sometimes the win is just showing up with the right tools and not assuming the worst before you look at it.
