2022 Honda Pilot
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2022 Honda Pilot Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A college senior out in Peutz Valley called me after he'd already hung up with the dealer. He'd dropped his only fob on the concrete of his apartment carport and cracked the housing.

The fob was in two pieces, but his bigger frustration was the dealer's answer: they told him to tow the Pilot in and quoted him a number that made him sit down on the curb for a minute. He figured that was just the cost of owning a newer Honda. He found me before he called the tow truck.

I was at his carport in about twenty minutes. The housing was cracked clean through, but the circuit board and battery were intact, so I could verify what he actually had before I touched anything. I got into the vehicle, pulled the VIN, confirmed the trim and key system, and got to work cutting and programming a replacement fob on site. He stood there watching, which I prefer. When someone can see every step, they stop wondering if the job was real.

The whole thing wrapped in under an hour. He kept his cracked fob as a backup shell, which I told him was mostly a bad idea unless he taped it properly and stored it somewhere dry.

He never left the carport. No tow, no waiting room, no second trip to pick the car up. The dealer quote was still sitting in his recent calls when he paid me, and the difference was significant enough that he mentioned it twice.
