2006 Hyundai Elantra Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A Navy family over in the Naval Base Area called me about their 2006 Elantra. Both remotes had stopped working, and they were getting into the car manually every time. They had already done the CR2032 swap themselves, which was the right instinct. Still nothing.
When I got there, the car was sitting in base housing parking. I ran through the remote functions one by one. No response from either fob. The key blade still started the car without complaint, so the transponder side was fine. The problem was isolated to the remote receiver.
I connected to the OBD port, pulled the current key data, and went through the programming sequence for both remotes. Once that was done I did what I always do: walked away from the car to test real-world range, cycled through every button, confirmed the trunk release fired, confirmed the panic worked, and did it again from the far end of the lot.
Both fobs came back clean. The owner had assumed he needed all new hardware. He didn't. The remotes just needed to be re-enrolled after something interrupted the pairing. Took about 25 minutes on site.
He mentioned the dealer had told him over the phone they would need the car dropped off. No towing needed here. I was already in the neighborhood.
