Yes, and on the 2007 Elantra this is worth handling carefully because the ignition cylinder on this generation is not especially forgiving if you go in rough with the wrong tool. Broken key extraction is a standard call. In most cases we can remove the broken piece without pulling or replacing the cylinder.

I bought a replacement transponder key online. Can I program it myself?

On the 2007 Elantra, there is no owner-accessible add-a-key sequence. No ignition-turn pattern, no button combination. Programming requires a tool connected to the OBD port. If you bought a pre-cut or blank key online, you still need a locksmith or dealer to enroll the chip before it will start the car. The blade also needs to be cut to your specific ignition profile, and an online key almost certainly arrives uncut. Buying the blank online is fine. Just know it's only half the job.

Can you make a key for my 2007 Elantra if I have no working key at all?
