A guy in Downtown Chula Vista called me on a Tuesday afternoon. His 2013 Hyundai Elantra was sitting in a lot off Third Avenue and he could not get it to recognize his fob at all. Fresh CR2032 in, contacts wiped, fob closed back up. Walked every door, tested the touch unlock on both handles, ran all four buttons. Everything came back clean.
He did not need a new fob. He did not need programming. The dealer's quote was still sitting in his email and he just stared at his phone for a second after it all worked again.
I was back in my van in under twenty minutes. He saved a good chunk.
