2014 Infiniti Q50
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2014 Infiniti Q50 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out near the Kit Carson Park area in Escondido, an occupational therapist finished a late session at her outpatient clinic and walked to the employee lot around 9pm. She pressed the start button and got nothing. The dash gave her a key-not-detected warning and that was it. The fob had not been weak or intermittent. It just stopped.

The dealer was closed. The earliest appointment was Thursday. It was Monday.

She called me and I was there before 10pm.

I checked the fob first, the way I always do. CR2032 was not the issue. The fob itself had failed. I pulled a replacement fob, registered it to her Q50 through the OBD port using my programmer, and went through every function while she sat inside watching: lock, unlock, the trunk release, remote functions. All confirmed working. The mechanical insert key gets tested too, because that is the fallback and it needs to work.

Thirty-five minutes after she called, she drove home. She did not leave her car in a dark lot overnight. She did not rearrange her patient schedule around a Thursday dealer appointment. The cost was a fraction of what the dealer would have charged, and she did not have to wait for them to order anything.

That is the job. Most of the time, it is not dramatic. Someone just needs to get home.
