He had parked his 2015 Grand Cherokee the night before, taken the train downtown, and when he came back that morning the fob was completely dead. The battery had just died hard enough to kill the RF signal and prevent the push-button start from waking the system. CR2032 swap, verified the pairing was clean, cleared the communication fault, and walked every function: door lock, unlock, remote start if equipped, and the start button inside. Everything came back exactly as it should.
I left him a spare CR2032 for the center console. He made his first sales call that morning. The dealer would have had him waiting until Monday and towing the vehicle to do it.
