Third, the process. At a combined domestic-brand dealership, the service desk covers multiple brands and model lines. A JK key job is not a priority against higher-dollar warranty work.

None of that applies to a mobile job. I show up with equipment, do the programming in your driveway or parking lot, and leave. The 2014 Wrangler generation does not require the kind of manufacturer-level security clearance that newer vehicles demand, so there is no access bottleneck on my end either.

Yes, that pattern points directly to the immobilizer. Start-then-stall in a matter of seconds is a classic sign that the engine management system cranked the engine on the mechanical turn, but then the immobilizer did not validate the chip signal and killed the fuel or ignition within the first couple of seconds.

On the 2014 Wrangler, this can happen if the key's transponder chip lost its pairing, if the key was cloned or cut from a donor that was not properly programmed to your specific vehicle, or if there is a fault in how the immobilizer is reading the key.

It can also happen with a key that has a cracked housing and a damaged circuit board. The chip may be partially functional, enough to let the vehicle attempt a start but not enough to fully satisfy the security check.

This is diagnosable on site. I read the immobilizer status through the OBD port and can usually tell within a few minutes whether the problem is the key, the programming, or something on the vehicle side.
