Will the replacement key work exactly like my original?

My 2021 Wrangler fob works sometimes and fails other times. What causes that?

Intermittent fob behavior on these is one of the more common complaints I hear about the JL generation. A few things cause it.

First check: the CR2450 battery. It has to be the right size and seated with solid contact. A loose cell or the wrong battery diameter gives you exactly this kind of on-and-off behavior.

If the battery is correct and secure, the next suspect is a sync issue between the fob and the vehicle's security system. This can happen after a battery swap done while the vehicle was in a certain state, or after the vehicle's software ran an update in the background. The fob and the system can drift out of registration without either one being physically damaged.

There's also a less obvious one: interference. Certain areas with dense RF traffic, or even a key sitting near some consumer electronics, can cause detection dropouts that look random. If it happens in one specific spot consistently, that's worth noting when you call.
