Out in Bonsall, off one of those long gravel driveways near the self-storage yards on the Fallbrook side, I got a call from a guy in the middle of a move. He was a retiree downsizing, and he had been hauling boxes since early morning. Somewhere between loading and unloading, the only key to his 2022 Jeep Wrangler disappeared into the pile. I decoded the door lock mechanically, cut a replacement blade to match, programmed the new fob through the OBD port, and walked every function: lock, unlock, the panic button, and remote start confirmation. Tested the emergency blade in the door and the ignition. Everything worked the way it should.
I told him the old key, if it ever surfaces under a box somewhere, would still operate the vehicle. The procedure I used does not wipe previously registered keys unless you specifically request an all-keys-lost reset.
He was back to moving inside of 45 minutes. The dealer had a multi-day wait for an appointment and would have cost him a full moving day on top of the ticket price. He paid a fraction of that and never left the property.
