A driver at a highway pulloff near Montgomery had his key snap in the ignition of his 1997 Lexus LS. Half the blade stuck in the cylinder, half in his hand. Another locksmith quoted him for a full ignition replacement over the phone. New cylinder, new keys, over $500.
I used my TOY43R Lishi to extract the broken fragment without touching the wafer surfaces. I decoded the lock from the readings, cut a fresh blade, and programmed the chip through OBD. His key uses a separate remote, FCC ID , so the fob was fine. He just needed the new blade and transponder.
No drilling, no cylinder swap. Total was $185. The other locksmith's destructive approach would have been $386 or more with a new cylinder and reprogrammed keys. His original lock works with the new key exactly as before.
