2009 Lexus LS
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2009 Lexus LS Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

De Luz is the kind of place where you pass three avocado groves before you see another car. The roads are narrow, the cell signal is thin, and if your Lexus stops working out there, a tow truck is not your first call. It is a bad situation to be in.

The owner had come out to check on a property. Somewhere between the gate and the grove, the only fob he had stopped communicating with the car. He could not lock it, could not start it, and the key-not-detected warning was sitting on the dash every time he tried. He found my number and got a text through before the signal dropped again.

I already carry what this generation requires. I drove out to De Luz with the equipment loaded and found his LS parked on a dirt pullout next to an avocado row. No shade, mid-afternoon, not a great spot for precision work, but that is the job.

I backed up the smart ECU data before touching anything, because on this generation you do not skip that step. Then I worked through the registration process, built a replacement fob on-site, and verified every function before I called it done. Touch unlock on both front handles, the start button, the mechanical backup blade insert. All of it.

He asked what the dealer would have said. I told him they would have started with a tow, because the car was not drivable, and worked from there. He just nodded and looked back at the grove like he had somewhere to be.
